The charm of wood in home arrangements is something that is difficult to pass by indifferently. It works perfectly in Scandinavian, modern and rustic style, giving the interiors the warmth we so much need on long winter evenings. It will beautifully decorate the living room, enliven the kitchen and make the bathroom decor seem more sophisticated.

For years we have been delighted with Scandinavian arrangements because apart from simplicity they emanate cosiness, desired at home. This atmosphere is created by wood – it is worth to use it not only on the floor, in windows and doors, but also in accessories that will give the room a completely different dimension.

Wood in the house has many uses: an oak table, chairs, a pine dressing table, various photo frames, original newspapers, lamps with wooden legs or the most popular furniture and floors in interiors. However, before we do that, let’s consider how to preserve the naturalness of wood because it will perfectly match any type of arrangement.

Natural wood looks particularly good in modern, slightly raw arrangements, giving them a specific charm. A good example is a hall, which nowadays becomes not only a visually attractive room but also gains in functionality.

The arrangement of the kitchen and dining room can be a challenge, especially if we want to reconcile natural beauty and modern design.

A good and commonly used solution is also to combine wood with sapwood. This duo will work in almost every interior, and what is more, it will allow you to freely choose accessories. White walls are a perfect scenery for wooden tops and cabinet fronts, which will stand out perfectly against this background. Bright shades also optically enlarge the room, which is extremely important in flats with so-called blind kitchens. In kitchen arrangements, it is worth to use dedicated paints, which are characterized by increased resistance to moisture, washing and scrubbing, thanks to which it is easy to remove dirt from the painted wall.

However, wood is not only a finishing touch but also unique accessories – a table or chairs, which we can give a second life and match your dream arrangement. If the budget does not allow us to buy a new set, we can easily give it a modern character using paint. The furniture prepared for renovation can be secured with a chosen shade of varnish or painted with e.g. acrylic enamel, choosing a colour suitable for the kitchen or dining room design.

Bathroom in wood

Wood will also be perfect in the arrangement of the bathroom. The furniture can be made of solid material or wood-based board finished with a veneer. Let’s also take care of trinkets: hangers, containers for storing accessories and cosmetics or candles with a wooden base. Natural accessories will add elegance to your bathroom, while beige walls will optically enlarge the room, giving it a unique character. At this point, it is also worth betting on a large mirror framed in wooden frames, thanks to which the whole arrangement will look very tasteful.

If you decide to use wooden countertops near a washbasin, it is best to use species which are well suited for rooms with increased humidity, such as oak, beech or larch. They should also be properly protected, for example, garden furniture oil, which can also be used indoors. It is also necessary to seal gaps created during the so-called white assembly – in this case, it is best to use silicones that prevent water from getting under the surface of wooden elements.

Wood in an arrangement is no longer just floors and ceiling beams – it is also accessories that make your home cushioning unique. Thanks to the application of appropriate preparations, we will successfully use them both in the bedroom and in the bathroom. What is the role of wood in modern interior design?

In the houses, we design, natural wood – such as walnut or oak – refers to our organic need for contact with nature. Both subtle accents and larger spaces involving this material create a contrast to synthetic, industrial materials. Wood has long since ceased to have a purely decorative role – skillfully woven into the design of a building and its interiors, it exudes cosiness, encourages us to stay for longer, creates a chance to catch our breath, and promotes our need for the slow life.
